Evan McCarthy moved from a sales position at an international company with 80,000 employees to a small Maine start-up with a team of 7 — and he couldn’t be happier.
“I am very excited to start building a sales portfolio of small and large brands throughout the country for Chimani,” says McCarthy, Chimani’s new Business Relations Manager, who is already forming relationships and pitching mobile-app advertising opportunities to clients as diverse as small bed & breakfasts and multinational corporations.
McCarthy comes to Chimani from Enterprise Rent-a-Car, where he was a top sales performer in the company’s Portland, Maine, airport offices. An alumni of the University of Maine and graduate of Missouri Western University with a political-science degree, McCarthy’s diverse background includes stints as a municipal property inspector and as a private golf instructor.
“I have worked in both slow- and fast-paced sales environments, which gives me experience with building rapport with potential advertisers,” says McCarthy. “I plan on growing our portfolio for smaller business such as restaurants and hotels, but focusing on landing a few larger brand deals such as Subaru. Obviously, the brand deals will take much more time, which is where the relationship building portion is extremely important.”
