Tollefson brings 40+ years of leadership and national park experience to Chimani, having been the Superintendent of Great Smoky Mountains, Sequoia & Kings Canyon, Glacier Bay National Park, and mostly recently Yosemite National Park, as well as a park ranger at Katmai, Denali, and Lake Clark National Park in Alaska, Virgin Islands National Park, and North Cascades National Park.
“Mike has deeply impacted the national park system with his leadership and passion for the outdoors, and we are excited to have his insight on our team,” said Kerry Gallivan, Chimani’s CEO. “We believe his wealth of experience in the parks, as well as with the parks’ many partners, will be extremely valuable as Chimani continues to grow.”
Tollefson graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Marketing and Finance. He has been awarded the National Park Service Director’s Partnership Award for outstanding achievement in support of his work in Yosemite National Park, as well as the Presidential Rank Award, Secretary of Interior’s Executive Leadership Award, and the American Society of Landscape Architects Honor Award.
