Daniel Sparks, Chimani’s new Sales and Marketing Intern, is intent on making his mark and contributing to the rapid growth of the Portland, Maine-based Outdoor-Tech startup in the coming months. An undergraduate student at Bates College, Sparks plans to graduate with the class of 2018 with degrees in psychology and sociology. Electing to remain on his college campus in Lewiston Maine, Sparks joined Chimani in May.
An unapologetic water sports fanatic, Sparks has spent the last six years rowing competitively, and the last five years working with Collinsville Canoe and Kayak, a small business based on the Farmington River in his home state of Connecticut. Also an avid gamer, he fosters an appreciation for Chimani’s marriage of technology and the outdoors.
“It is a very exciting time to be working with Chimani,” commented Sparks. “I joined the team during the back end of their largest app release to-date and have since been galvanized by the company’s high energy! It is a privilege to be a part of and to witness firsthand the ceaseless development and evolution of a company which is making the outdoors more accessible to people.” Though Sparks will take his leave of Chimani late this August, there is no telling what the future will hold for his relationship with the business.
“Daniel has been a great addition to our team,” said Marketing Manager Tom Tash. “During what has been one of the busiest periods in Chimani’s development history, Daniel was willing to hit the ground running, allowing us to stay active across many of our marketing channels.”
Chimani will focus on providing Daniel with real-world experience in business development, marketing, sales, and the exciting world of tech startups during his time with the company this summer.
